Statement of Intent

How do you intend to use the four areas of the media theoretical framework to communicate meaning and meet the requirements of your chosen brief?  Product 1: I have chosen to produce a magazine which I will portray the Black lives matter Protests and the global environmental crisis. These current affairs are global, meaningful and have an impact on many people's lives. The Representation is highly significant, because it is highlighting the issues and situations currently visible in the world, especially the racism in America. Therefore, creating real representations of this will help attract audiences and bring attention to what is going on. My idea for this came from the events occurred this year. This grabbed my attention to create a magazine about the horrific situation. My photography will show the representation of the lives of these black people, who go through racial abuse, when they are innocent people. I will do this through the media language including mise-en-sce...

Photography elements

' At least 4 different main images across the covers and contents page' Both boy and a girl- this will represent at least two of the different social groups, and make the magazine seem suitable for all genders. First Edition: All about protest and gender inequality- includes black lives matter. Settings/location- streets/ally way- gives a more reality and urban feel to the theme. I also think it gives a powerful message about how real society is and the problems that people face everyday. Models- Both female and male, but i will also try and include different races to diversify my magazine cover. This also expands my social group representations. I am going to take lots of different angles and shot types on the camera of the models, and then limit my choices out so i get a broader range. Mise-en-scene- The clothes they wear and makeup etc will need to match my theme. Therefore, if i wad to do the black lives matter protest, i could do 'army lines' makeup an...

Mood Board

I have used a range of different photos to highlight the style of my magazine, but also about what is going on in the world currently. The two main stories happening now (May/june 2020) is the Coronavirus/global pandemic and also the black lives matter protests happening in London and the USA.  My two magazine front covers will possibly have two different colour schemes, with one being black and white to show the black lives matter protests. This will create diversity for my magazine brand and i can use different types of images to show this as well.  The style of my magazine will be more of a 'vogue' feel or the Week, which uses a lot of editing in the main images. These images conform to the expectations of a entertainment magazine because its colourful and also i want to include different stories across my magazines. I am going to use original and modern fonts for my masthead, head lines, copy etc to match with other magazines.

Key elements of my current affairs magazine

Image
As current affairs is all about news and politics, as well as cultural and social issues, i want to base my magazine around these issues, so that it is aware to my audience what is happening in the UK right now, as well as around the world. My audience is a 16-25 middle to up market demographic, both males and females, therefore i will need to appeal to that particular market of audience to make my magazine successful and popular. To do this, i need to select an appropriate location, model and content of my photographs i will be using. Location: Outside- beach, allyway, field : gives a more natural and social feel to the magazine Plain wall background- in a house etc- makes model stand out even more Editing: If i was to do my magazine about the protests going on, then i will edit my photo to be black and white to show we are all equal Colourful is also attractive so i could edit the exposure etc of the photo on my next edition to attract more creative people- could b...

Perfect Audience member

Image
My magazine will attract this perfect audience member because i am going to make it fun and creative, to match the age demographic, but also include social and cultural issues that they are most likely aware of, so they are attracted to read it and want to be included in it.

Similar Magazines- textual analysis

1. This magazine has used a lot of editing and photoshop to make their magazine appealing and stand out as a current affair magazine. Their main message is the new labour party leader, Kier Starmer who was elected in April 2020, when the world was in a global pandemic, has faced problems when he became leader. The theme of their front cover is james bond. We can see this refrence through "We've been expecting you, Sir Keir" and the use of photoshop of him on james bonds body, with explosions of the polling station in the background. This might attract audiences who recognise it or watch it. Although this isnt real images, which i want to use in my magazine, i think the editing of this magazine is clear and formal, but also creative. It does look real, even though its not. The camerawork therefore (from the editing point of view) is a clear mid shot of 3 politicians, making them stand out even more. I like the style of the headlines, captions, subtitles ans copy...
