This magazine has used a lot of editing and photoshop to make their magazine appealing and stand out as a current affair magazine. Their main message is the new labour party leader, Kier Starmer who was elected in April 2020, when the world was in a global pandemic, has faced problems when he became leader.

The theme of their front cover is james bond. We can see this refrence through "We've been expecting you, Sir Keir" and the use of photoshop of him on james bonds body, with explosions of the polling station in the background. This might attract audiences who recognise it or watch it.

Although this isnt real images, which i want to use in my magazine, i think the editing of this magazine is clear and formal, but also creative. It does look real, even though its not. The camerawork therefore (from the editing point of view) is a clear mid shot of 3 politicians, making them stand out even more.

I like the style of the headlines, captions, subtitles ans copy. The font is a very modern serif which gives it an attractive but serious look to the papers front cover. The main copy line accompanies the main image very well, and matches with the colour scheme: red, black, blue and white which are all simple and represent all the parties colours.

The layout of this magazine is traditional in the sense that the main image is in the middle third of the page, which attracts the audiences eye straight away. The headline and cover lines are put to the side, to draw the main attention to the image and the mast head, although it is quite clear anyway and tells the reader what its about.

I like the style and layouts of a popular magazine, like Vogue. I am particularly fond of the different sizes between the mast head and the cover lines plotted all around the main image of the front cover. I think this is very creative and gives a fun theme to the paper. The particular house style of this magazine is inspirational for the type of magazine i want to complete. It is also very eye catching to the reader, and adds to my age demographic of 16-25 year olds.

The camera work of Kristen Stewart is a mid shot. She is turned to the side slightly, but her appearance makes her more attractive and appealing to a younger audience. There isnt much editing placed on the camera work, just in the typeography.

The font is very modern and much like a sans serif font, which is very appealing and bold to consumers. It does convey a sense of simplicity and minimalism, although there is a lot of it. The text is big and some in captials, meaning it is easy to read, and therefore it stands out.

The colour palette is a mix of red, black and white. The black and white are very formal and make it quite old fashioned, however the red gives it a modern feel and make it look appealing and eye catching.

It includes the barcode, date and price to show it genuine and follows the conventions of a normal magazine. It gives the reader information and is a purely functional element.

Contents pages:

In this contents page of the vogue magazine, it shows another picture of Kristen Stuart, as a  close up, as she poses in a canted angle. This makes her seem like a strong and powerful woman. Her costume and makeup are very different to the front cover, making it seem diversified and creative.

The contents page includes credits underneath the second image of the magazine of the photographer etc. Along side to the right, the list includes what the magazine is about and what will be featured.

This contents page features the same photo as the front cover, and shows who illustrated it by given them credit.
The message in the magazine is about the labour party, and they have a dedicated section to match with the front cover. This is in a red border, as well as image they included.
The rest is what the other parts of the magazine conveys etc. These topics are about books, the global pandemic, economics, letters and law. This shows it is more of a literature paper, rather than the vogue issue which is more about fashion, models, celebrities etc.
