Statement of Intent

 How do you intend to use the four areas of the media theoretical framework to communicate meaning and meet the requirements of your chosen brief? 

Product 1:

I have chosen to produce a magazine which I will portray the Black lives matter Protests and the global environmental crisis. These current affairs are global, meaningful and have an impact on many people's lives. The Representation is highly significant, because it is highlighting the issues and situations currently visible in the world, especially the racism in America. Therefore, creating real representations of this will help attract audiences and bring attention to what is going on. My idea for this came from the events occurred this year. This grabbed my attention to create a magazine about the horrific situation. My photography will show the representation of the lives of these black people, who go through racial abuse, when they are innocent people. I will do this through the media language including mise-en-scene, settings and my models used during a protest. My Global environmental crisis issue show inside the real life effects of the global crisis and how much earth has changed due to our everyday lives of using fossil fuels etc. This has been a huge issue/crisis that has circulated for years Therefore, I want to create an edition to further the change we can make for the earth, and encourage people to change their everyday lives.

Product 2:

My subsidiary website will include an interview and photographs, as well as my brand logos and the competition i mention in my contents page. It also makes them connect with the background stories of the models. I will subvert my website to look like other current affair magazine webpages such as layout, however i tend to challenge this and not include the different tabs etc like fashion, lifestyle etc as i don't want it to distract the current affairs on the magazine i created. I also want to include links to climate change pages and petitions as well to help the current affair situations i chose. My website shows my media language used in the photos, and is similar to the ones in my magazine. It will also include featured posts and extra side stories to convert to the normal conventions of a current affairs website. I plan on featuring my stories on my second link page in categories of health, world and business which are typical news categories to again convert to current affair conventions.

How do you intend to link your media products to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of the digitally convergent nature of your media production?

The link between my magazine and website is that my website will be shown in the contents page of my magazine and my website will first show my two front covers and content pages to drive my audience between the two. My AV content is an interview talking about climate change to grab the readers attention. I will use a grey, red and white colour scheme on my website, to match with my current magazine colour scheme. My logo will also be featured on my website to show my brand and is confided with an editors note to introduce the new magazine.

Process of creating webpages

  I started off by creating an account on Wix and choosing a template i thought was appropiate for my current affairs magazine website: I played around with the layout, images, fonts, text and boxes so i could get used to it and that i would be comfortable changing it to my own house style etc. I began to take original images for my website, including a black lives matter post, a Corona vaccine image etc so i had some articles for my audience to read. After publishing a few articles, i began my audio content by doing an interview with Heather Crosbie about the environment which i included on my home page. I chose a grey- white and red colour scheme for my website, as it looks professional, fresh and is the similar house style as my contents pages.
